"Allyson's patience and lessons helped me greatly improve both my writing and reading, but mostly it gave me confidence to engage in school. She taught me I was smart."
Literacy instruction has been a focal point in my life's work. I know what it can mean for a child, over the course of his or her lifetime, to know how to read. There have been many iterations of my professional skill set over the years. I try to be an as informed and responsive instructor as possible.  Dyslexia is part of my family, and so my work is a labor of love.

My Professional Credentials:
I am a Certified Dyslexia Interventionist with the International Dyslexia Association's (IDA) Center for Effective Reading Instruction.  I am also an IMSE certified comprehensive Orton Gillingham tutor with training in the advanced curriculum from the Institute of Multi-Sensory Education. I am on the referred practitioner list with Learning Ally and the Rocky Mountain IDA.  I have 20 years of experience in education, and I hold a current professional license in Colorado to teach Special Education K-12, Gifted Education K-12, Early Childhood Education, and ESL K-12. I was a former STEPS-Reading to Learn in the Content Areas teacher trainer for BVSD.  I was a Project RICO scholar at the University of New Mexico in the field of bilingual and multicultural needs in special education. I have some training in Structured Word Inquiry.  I am a member of the International Dyslexia Association, Rocky Mountain Dyslexia Association, CAGT and SENG (Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted).

I have a specialized interest in working with 2E kids, dual language learners, and non-traditional learners. Please don’t hesitate to call or request further information. My goal is to help your child find their joy in learning through literacy.
